Wastewater Infrastructure for a Growing Community at Jordan Springs

About the Project

Designed to support both immediate demand and future network performance, the project required the delivery of a fully integrated wastewater system across challenging ground and environmental conditions.

The scope included:
- 1.1km of gravity sewer infrastructure across multiple pipe diameters
- 700m of PE rising main
- 400m overflow pipeline
- Multiple deep sewer manholes
- Construction of a 12-metre-deep wet well and pump station

Delivered within a highly coordinated environment, the project reflects WEM Water’s capability to execute complex wastewater infrastructure safely, efficiently and to the highest technical standard.

Managing Deep Excavation and Challenging Ground Conditions

A defining challenge of the project was the combination of adverse ground conditions, deep excavation requirements and aggressive groundwater environments.

Significant excavation depths, particularly surrounding the wet well and sewer manholes, demanded advanced shoring systems and carefully engineered excavation methodologies to maintain trench stability and ensure safe working conditions.

Compounding this complexity was the presence of high salinity groundwater, creating long-term durability risks for underground infrastructure and requiring careful consideration across material selection, installation methods and asset protection.

To address these conditions, WEM Water implemented purpose-designed excavation and support systems, combined with staged construction methodologies that enabled works to progress safely and efficiently while maintaining structural integrity throughout delivery.

Precise Design across a Complex Water Network

Key to successfully navigating the complex network integration was strict design adherence and installation accuracy across the gravity sewer infrastructure, rising mains and pump station system.

Strict quality control measures and laser-guided installation processes ensured accurate grading, alignment and performance across the network, providing confidence in the long-term reliability of the system.

WEM Water also implemented corrosion-resistant materials and high-performance components specifically selected to withstand the aggressive groundwater environment, helping safeguard the longevity and resilience of the infrastructure.

Safety. Critical to Success.

To ensure successful delivery across the technically demanding site conditions, WEM Water implemented a structured and proactive project approach focused on coordination, execution certainly and most importantly – the safety of our team.

Closely collaborating with engineers, suppliers and project stakeholders enabled seamless integration across all system components, maintaining project momentum while ensuring compliance within stringent delivery requirements.

Importantly, a strong safety-first culture remained central throughout construction. Rigorous safety planning, advanced excavation controls and ongoing on-site supervision ensured all high-risk works, particularly deep excavations surrounding the wet well and sewer infrastructure, were completed safely and without incident.

This disciplined approach allowed works to progress efficiently while maintaining the high standards of quality, safety and reliability required across a complex wastewater infrastructure environment.

Delivering Long-Term Infrastructure Certainty

Despite the technical complexity and challenging site conditions, WEM Water successfully delivered the project safely, on time and to specification.

The completed wastewater network now provides essential servicing infrastructure for more than 1,900 residential lots, supporting the continued growth of the Jordan Springs community while delivering long-term operational reliability.

The project demonstrates WEM Water’s expertise in deep excavation, pump station construction and complex wastewater infrastructure delivery, reinforcing our ability to provide dependable, future-ready solutions across large-scale residential developments.
