Forest Reach – Largest Bulk Earthworks Residential Project in NSW

WEM Civil has been awarded the bulk earthworks contract for the Forest Reach Estate in Huntley, located at the foothills of the Illawarra Escarpment, approximately 18km from Wollongong. Working with our long-term partner Stockland, this project will set the foundation for over 600 new homes in the estate, which will positively impact the growing Illawarra region.

As one of the largest residential bulk earthworks projects in NSW, consideration for the environment has been included in the planning and execution strategies for the job. As part of this project, WEM Civil has been contracted to rework 1.5 million m3 of existing ground material, blending it with on-site inert material to achieve the required geotechnical conditions. Working with Douglas Partners (geotechnical consultant) throughout the project, the earthworks will be undertaken in a measurable and controlled manner to ensure the project achieves its objectives and sets the site up for the future residential estate.

Unique features for this project include significant protection areas such as Environmental Protection zones, Aboriginal and Heritage listed zones and a riparian corridor. The team, collaborating with local and state government bodies, individuals and authorities, will continue to work together to maintain these important features for a successful outcome for this premium residential development.
