WEM Civil Recognised as a Sustainability Advantage Bronze Partner

WEM Civil is proud to have been recognised as a Bronze Partner of Sustainability Advantage, a program of the NSW Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water.

Awarded in August 2026, this recognition acknowledges WEM Civil’s demonstrated sustainability commitment and achievements and marks an important milestone in our ongoing journey to strengthen environmental performance across our business.

For WEM Civil, sustainability is not viewed as a standalone initiative. It is an ongoing commitment that influences how we operate, how we approach our projects and how we continue to look for better ways of working.

What is Sustainability Advantage?

Sustainability Advantage is a business support program delivered by the NSW Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water. The program partners with organisations to help improve sustainability performance, reduce costs, create value and accelerate positive impact at scale.

Through the Sustainability Advantage Recognition Scheme, participating organisations can progress through different levels of recognition as their sustainability commitment and achievements develop.

Bronze Partner status recognises organisations that can demonstrate both a commitment to sustainability and achievement in this area. For WEM Civil, reaching this milestone provides important recognition of the work undertaken to date while reinforcing our commitment to continued improvement.

Building Sustainability into the Way We Work

As a civil construction business, we recognise the responsibility we have to consider the environmental impact of the work we deliver and the way our business operates.

Our approach is focused on finding practical opportunities to improve environmental outcomes throughout our operations and project delivery.

This includes initiatives such as increasing the use of recycled materials where appropriate, working to reduce waste sent to landfill, protecting local ecosystems and identifying opportunities to reduce emissions through innovation and more efficient ways of working.

By considering sustainability throughout our operations, we can continue to identify opportunities to use resources more efficiently, minimise environmental impacts and contribute to better long-term outcomes for the communities in which we work.

Importantly, sustainability is an area of continual improvement. As our business, projects and industry continue to evolve, so too does our approach.

Recognition of Our Progress

Achieving Bronze Partner recognition is an acknowledgement of the progress WEM Civil has made and the commitment demonstrated across the business.

It provides an opportunity to reflect on the initiatives already underway while establishing a strong foundation from which we can continue to improve our sustainability performance.

The recognition also connects WEM Civil with a broader network of organisations working with Sustainability Advantage to share knowledge, ideas and experiences and advance sustainability outcomes across New South Wales.
