About the Project
The project involved the extension of Sterling Road to accommodate increased traffic flow and improve access to the newly created lots. A key feature was the construction of a large structural swale adjacent to the highway, designed to effectively manage stormwater runoff in line with environmental requirements. These works demanded precise execution to meet both functional and regulatory standards.
One of the most significant challenges was the remediation of 4,000 cubic metres of contaminated material, including asbestos. WEM Civil carried out all remediation works in-house using fitted plant and full-time on-site management. By avoiding reliance on specialist subcontractors, the team delivered a safer, more cost-effective solution without compromising project timelines.

Proximity to the Great Western Highway added logistical complexity, requiring careful coordination to avoid traffic disruptions. Through detailed planning and execution, WEM Civil successfully delivered the project on time, showcasing its ability to manage environmental risk while executing high-volume civil works in a constrained environment.
