About the Project

The scope included the removal and export of 10,000 cubic metres of virgin excavated natural material (VENM), the installation of 500 metres of stormwater drainage, and two rainwater tanks with a combined capacity of 525,000 litres. Excavation works also involved creating two lift pits, three stairwells, and foundations for strip and pad footings.

One of the key challenges was managing the volume of material to be exported while maintaining operational efficiency on site. Careful planning was required for the detailed excavation works, especially for critical elements such as lift pits and footings. Weather conditions and logistical complexities also tested the project team, particularly in delivering the stormwater systems on time. Environmental compliance added another layer of complexity, with WEM Civil successfully securing approvals to recycle concrete for use as a road base, reducing waste and material costs.

The project’s successful completion provided a sustainable foundation that supports the ongoing development of the Greenacre industrial precinct. It also contributed to improved local infrastructure and environmental outcomes within the Canterbury-Bankstown area.
