Located on View Street in West Pennant Hills, George Thornton Reserve is an existing reserve featuring two full-sized sports fields and one mini-field. The Hills Shire Council nominated WEM Civil as Head Contractor to deliver the field extension project to increase the number of full-sized sports fields to three, increasing the capacity to meet community needs.
The scope involved a range of Civil Engineering works including playing field construction, sports field lighting, irrigation and drainage, stormwater infrastructure modifications, fencing, pathways, turfing and general landscaping. The construction of the new field also includes synthetic cricket wickets and cricket practice nets and ball-stop fencing.
