Located on View Street, West Pennant Hills, George Thornton Reserve was an existing reserve featuring two full-sized sports fields and one mini-field. As Head Contractor, WEM Scape was engaged to deliver an additional full-sized sports field with new turf, synthetic cricket wickets, practice nets and ball-stop fencing, upgraded lighting, irrigation, pathways and landscaping.
Project scope involved civil engineering works, playing field construction, sports field lighting, irrigation and drainage, stormwater infrastructure modifications, fencing, pathways, turfing, and general landscaping.
Key project requirements included 2km of subsurface draining, 5km of sand slitting, the installation of 110kL concrete tank for rainwater harvesting, upgrades to the existing irrigation system, and 9,000m² of Santa Anna Couch.
